Mitchell, the eldest of the Desmores/Stone family, has turned out to be a pretty loyal and dependable guy, despite his affair with his ex- wife's sister, Sandy Reynolds. Readers quickly got exposed to Mitchell and his steamy relationship with Sandy while he was living with wife, Sherri, in Coral Springs, Nevada. Sandy, who wanted her sister's share of their parent's inheritance, talked Mitchell into marrying her sister so that they could get their hands on it after the inevitable divorce. Sandy 's conscience, however, got the best of her and she confessed following the assassination of Kasey Alvarez that she and Mitchell were having an affair. Hurt and disgusted, Sherri ended things with Mitchell, swearing to make them pay. Sandy, frighten of what her sister might do, decided with Mitchell's approval that it would best if they return to Hallandale. There was only one problem -- Sherri had already beaten them there. However, it would appear that Sherri was the least of their worries as Sandy had ruffled more than her sister's feathers while in Coral Springs. Denise Sharrington, head of a mob family in Coral Springs, was determined to put a stop to Sandy's snooping around in Widlin Pierre's past. Thus, one sad afternoon, after coming home with news of his great job opportunity, Mitchell found Sandy shot and left for dead in a pool of her own blood.
The next several weeks, then months were excruciating as Mitchell awaited news on whether or not Sandy would survive. He also had to contend with his ex- wife ripe hatred and disapproval of his on-going relationship with Sandy. But good fortune soon dawn as Sandy opened her eyes, but it was too Mitchell's dismay when it appeared she had no recollection of their life together. He received a second blow when a nurse revealed that Sandy might never recall those intimate details of their life together. Mitchell, however, was not ready to accept that discerning fact and continued to be involved as much as possible in Sandy 's life after she was released. His continued involvement, unfortunately, only made the truth more unbearable when she still failed to connect with him. As his connection with Sandy began to dwindle, Mitchell found himself gravitating toward Akeira Smith Santana, who was dealing with some misfortune of her own. Deciding it might be time to get away from all this madness for a while, Mitchell offered Akeira a chance to leave with him for parts unknown.
Nearly a year would past before Mitchell would return to Hallandale, and to no surprise (or maybe so, considering he's suppose to be happily married), straight to Sandy Reynolds. While Sandy foolishly mistaked his visit for a long awaited reunion, Mitchell quickly broke the news that he was married to Akeira Smith Santana. Even more so, he and Akeira now shared a child through their love for one another. Sandy, however, couldn't believe in her heart that Mitchell felt the same passion with Akeira that they had. She even went as far as to suggest that Akeira's son, who they named after Mitchell's father, was the reason for his continued commitment, which he took immediate offense. Following his encounter with Sandy, Akeira expressed concern that old feelings might have been unearthed between him and Sandy. He assured her, however, that he was committed to her and Roy, and that nothing would interfere with what they came to Hallandale to do.
