About Romain

Brilliant, earnest Dr. Romain Chandler lost both his parents in a tragic car accident, leaving him and his older brother alone in the world. Robert was able to get a full-time job providing for him and his brother, while attending school in the evening. Overtime, Romain noticed the enormous strain the rigorous schedule had took on his brother and switched to an accelerated education plan that would allow him to graduate high school a year early. Romain's hard work paid off and he accepted a full scholarship to the University of North Dakota at the age of 17. After finishing med school, he returned to Hallandale to start his residency at Blanchencore Hospital.

In season one, Romain mixed business with pleasure and went on a dinner date with Dr. Laura Sedwick, who had more of an appetite for the doctor than the food on their plates. Romain regretfully had a one-night stand with her, and tried to avoid her afterwards. The night of the Masquerade Ball, however, she cornered him and he was forced to admit that he didn't think a relationship with her was in the cards. Laura took the rejection hard, and slowly started to unravel.

In season two, he became intrigued by the recent arrival of soon-to-be-divorced Sherri Reynolds. The two became more acquainted after the near death and shooting of her sister. After her sister received a clean bill of health, he and Sherri started dating publicly. Romain had high hopes for the relationship, but his whirlwind romance started to fizzle when his past in North Dakota decided to rear its ugly head. Sherri became obsessed with the fact that there was a secret part of himself that Romain was not disclosing. Despite his feelings for her, Romain grew tired of defending himself and broke off his involvement with her. Sandy would make several attempts to reconcile things between her sister and Romain, but each one would prove more disastrous than the last.

At the end of season five, Romain shares a chance encounter with Sandy at Monte Carlos, where she once again tries to sell him on her sister despite having been told to back off. He finds her determination and zest for life endearing, appreciating those qualities he had never fully noticed about her. He takes that appreciation to the next level when he locks lip with Sandy, much to her sister's horror. During a dramatic confrontation, Romain is compelled to admit that he was one that initiated the kiss.
