Samantha is Royce Keller's younger sister. She returnd to Hallandale to escape an impossible situation that had developed in Paris. It worked for a while, but eventually her past caught up with her in the form of charming chiropractor, Dr. Brock Lombard.
While completing her last two years of medical school in Paris, Samantha met and fell in love with Brock Lombard. The two enjoyed a worldwind romance that led to an engagement within months of meeting one of another. They didn't plan on waitng too long to marry either, designating the week before Samantha's graduation as the fateful day. However, Samantha would never have her day at the alter as Brock called off the engagement with no explanation after discovering his fiancèe in bed with Ty Chappell (an old friend of Samantha that happened to have a major crush on her). The whole set up, however, was completely innocent. Ty and Samantha had fallen asleep with one another after having a few too many drinks. Brock, however, jumped to the worse possible conclusion and slipped away unheard, only to drown his sorrows in alcohol before sleeping with Leigh Gray, who was infatuated with Brock and thought that their drunken tryst would be the start of something more between the two of them. Brock told her, however, that he was still in love with Samantha and that he never intended to mislead her, let alone sleep with her, and left her hotel. Despite his love for Samantha, Brock couldn't get past the image of Ty and Samantha in bed together and called off the engagement. Afterwards, he remained pretty aloofed with Samantha until she left Paris, unable to contend with the situation any longer.
Of course, Samantha picked the perfect time to return home -- with William Arlington desperately searching for his wife and the upcoming Masquerade Ball, where she would come face to face with Brock, who realized what a big mistake he made letting her go and wanted her back, much to Samantha's own surprise. In fact, he spent the next several weeks practically stalking her in an effort to get her to realize that they should be together. When it finally appeared that he was successful in breaking down her defenses, Brock asked her to marry him. Samantha was speechless, and as such, Brock advised her to listen to her heart and the answer would come to her in due time, but it didn't take long for Samatha to figure out her answer. She told Brock that she would marry him only if he could promise her that they would always trust and talk with one another, and on the stipulation that they tell her brother. However, when Samantha and Brock broke the news to her brother, Royce was rather thrown considering the fact that Brock was the same man that called off their engagement with no reason. Royce attempted to smooth things over with his sister by bringing Brock's family to town, but he was unable to keep his suspicions about his sister's soon-to-be husband quiet. As a result, Samantha asked that he not even bother showing up at her wedding if wasn't going to give her his blessing.
The following day, Samantha and Brock married at St. Christ Cathedral in the absence of her brother. During the wedding ceremony, Dana (Brock's sister) performed a tarot reading that forewarned Brock's past coming back to haunt him and it would. Following the pronunciation of Brock and Samantha as husband and wife, Royce finally came to his senses and wished his sister well. Upon returning from their honeymoon, Samantha received a bouquet of flowers signed by Ty Chappell, causing Brock to nearly blow a gasket. Samantha, however, did not believe that the flowers were from Ty and investigated, but the receptionist at the resort could only verify that a woman delivered them. Writing it off as a harmless joke, the newlyweds wiped it from their minds until the night of Shaquanna Nichols' Fashion show, when Samantha's mysterious stalker struck again, leaving her a cryptic note. Following that incident, Brock became distant with his wife, causing Samantha to turn to her brother-in-law, Ralph, for answers about Brock's distant behavior. When Samantha finally learned of Brock's affair with Leigha Gray (who was revealed as her stalker), she could only voice disgust as she looked back on Brock's ttreatment of Ty for their (Ty and Samantha) non-existence affair. Despite her initial anger, Samantha decided to move past the indiscretion after 24 hours of quiet tension. Their relationship has steadily grown ever since.
In Season 4, Samantha became involved and suspected in the sudden deaths of several patients at Leydale Hospital, who had contracted an unknown pathogen that was killing off their blood cells. It soon became clear after Earl Pryce's return from Springfield, Massachusetts and his subsequent contraction of the virus that the source of the pathogen was connected to the patients' recent travels to Springfield. Samantha and her colleagues began investigating, which ultimately led her to Springfield Medical Hospital and Chief of Staff, Dr. Daniel Mayfield. The resistance to her arrival was immediately felt by the receptionist's less than warm welcome and Dr. Mayfield's attempt to feign ignorance about Blackadder36, which Samantha was quick to show she wasn't falling for. Although he continued to play a game of cat and mouse with her, he does finally admit that the antidote is in ta rare, poisonous flower called the azalea, which blooms in the Spring. When Samantha asked him where she could find the plant, he began to shut down again, forcing her to go out on her own for answers. Little did she know the opposition she would receive from the citizens of Springfield as well. Realizing that the azalea garden had everyone scared silent, she went back to Dr. Mayfield and demanded he tell her where it was. He opted to show her personally, much to Samantha's surprise. However, on their way to the garden, his car broke down and they were forced to travel on foot to the nearest hotel, where they ended up sharing a room together due to the lack of vacancies. The next morning, Samantha was still convinced that Daniel had planned for his car to break down. The mechanic operating on the vehicle, however, confirmed that Daniel's car battery just ran out of juice. Nonetheless, Samantha was not satisfied and headed down to the hotel lobby for a quiet breakfast, only to run into a fortuneteller (Madame Isabel), who warned her of grave danger. Samantha was naturally skeptical, and even more so when Madame Isabel warned her to stay away from the azalea garden. At this point, she was convinced that the fortuneteller was working for Daniel, which Madame Isabel denied while pressing that Samantha shouldn't trust the doctor. She further heeded Samantha not to go with him to the azalea garden. When Daniel came down later to join her in the lobby, he discovered Samantha was gone. It would become apparant that Samantha decided to hitch a ride to the azalea garden.
When Samantha arrived at the garden, she couldn't believe how beautiful it all was. Especially since beyond all the roses, tulips, and orchids lies a dangerous and deadly plant, according to Daniel. As she was about to enter the garden, the sound of a car approaching garnered her attention first. When she realized who was behind the wheel, she wished she had proceeded inside. Daniel Mayfield stepped out of the car and approached her, ready to see her through to the garden. However, Samantha didn't want his help and she made that perfectly clear before waltzing into the garden alone. After a half hour passed, Daniel became worried and followed in after Samantha. As it would turn out, Samantha took a wrong turn among the way and had to backtrack, eventually navigating her way to the azaleas. It doesn't take her long to find the azaleas, and unfortunately, Daniel is quick on her tail. Despite trying to make it clear that she doesn't need his help, Daniel sticks around to help her extract the antidote from the azalea, but not before causing Samantha to cut her finger on one of its roots. As Samantha and Daniel leave the garden, Samantha is pulled back by a strange hand, which turns out to be Madame Isabel, who is uspet that Samantha did not heed her warnings. Samantha, however, is only focused on getting back home and could care less what the so-called fortuneteller has to say. Samantha will learn in time what the fortuneteller meant by "I only hope there is time for you."
