Previously on "The Mysteries of Our Lives": Spring of Devastation
Billy:  Me and Crystal both saw Javier take a swine dive over that balcony, nothing's going to change that...
Matthew:  There comes a time when you have to accept there are some things you cannot change. (~)
Sherri:  You know why we gave up on each other...
Romain:  because you're afraid of how I make you feel...we both know tonight was more than a game and the kiss cinched it, didn't it? (~)
Robin:  When I found out I was pregnant, I lied and told you it was a mistake because I didn't want it to be true...an abortion seemed like the only option.
***Dana:  (closing the door behind her as Agent Blaine makes his way inside) How the hell do you know who I am and I don't recall inviting you in.
Agent Blaine:  (cocky grin) That's alright, I forgive you for poor etiquette. (Dana scoffs at the remark) As for knowing who you are, it is my job to know everyone in this district.  (passing by Matthew) I even know who you are- Matthew.
Matthew:  Impressive.  (turns to Agent Blaine, folding his hands across his chest with a faint grin) Now why don't you tell us what you're doing here?
(<- Crystal's Fantasy & Associates ->)
Billy: (sitting in the dark as Crystal walks up to the bar, dusting with a rag before being taken over by saddness) Crystal!
(she hears his voice and turns for a moment, but then prepares to walk away) Please, don't walk away.
Crystal: (she turns back to the bar) I don't see what more there is to say.
Billy:  So you're just going to let Javier's death drive a wedge between us?
Crystal:  Javier's death isn't the problem, its your response to it.  I understand that Javier did some irreprehensible things to you, but every time I see your face, I just see how glad you are that he's dead and it makes me sick.  (she vacates abruptly, leaving a broken Billy)
(<- Outside of Monte Carlos ->)
Sherri:  The kiss meant nothing.  My only purpose tonight was to make sure Sandy and Darron got a taste of their own medicine, maybe now they'll think twice before sticking their noses where it doesn't belong.
Romain:  I agree, but let's not make that a reason to ignore what's going on here.
Sherri:  (tossing her hair back) and what is going on here, Romain?
Romain:  We were connecting again, before and even after knowing that we were set up.  That kiss wasn't one-sided, you were with me every step of the way.
(<- Leysdale Hospital ->)
Jay:  You want me to understand?  I can't understand this, I can't.  (making his way pass his wife, but turning back to face her) You tried to kill our baby.  How can I possibly understand?
*Theme Song*
Robin:  I don't blame you for not understanding.  I wasn't in my right mind, all I could think about was getting rid of the baby because then I wouldn't be pregnant anymore.
Jay:  You know what disturbs me about all of this, not that you could have killed our baby, but that you lied to me about being pregnant.  We're supposed to have a marriage based on truth and honesty, yet you felt the need to lie to me.  Why?
Robin:  I... (her eyes widen as she throws her hands up) I can't explain.  Maybe because there are no reasons.
Jay:  I find that hard to believe.
Robin:  What?  You think I'm holding something back?
Jay:  That's the one thing about lies, once you let them in, everything's suspect.
(<- Outside of Monte Carlos ->)
Sherri:  Whatever non-resistance you were feeling through that kiss was solely on your part.  That is why I pulled away.
Romain:  No, you pulled away because you were starting to feel again.  You felt those emotions rise and our hearts drift back to that special place.
Sherri:  You're deluding yourself because the kiss meant nothing.
Romain:  (getting passionate and angry at the same time) You can deny it until you're blue in the face because I know what's in your heart because it's in mine. (grabbing hold of her)
Sherri:  (she shrugs his hands off) I am not going to sit here and listen to you with your words, you have no idea how I feel and no right to assume you do.
Romain:  Maybe you're right, maybe that's because you're not sure how you feel, but I know that I love you-- (Sherri turns away, but Romain grabs her arm signifying her to listen to him) and I want us to be together.  I think deep down you know that, so give us another chance. (Sherri tilts her head down, but is unable to break away from Romain's piercing eyes)
***Agent Blaine:  I'm surprise you both haven't figured it out, you were both at the scene of the crime where one of my fellow colleagues was found dead.  I want to know exactly what happened before Javier Sanchez went over that balcony.
Matthew:  Well, like you said, we were in the vicinity, but we were no where near Javier when he went over the balcony.
Agent Blaine:  Perhaps you saw something you're neglecting to recall.
Matthew:  (narrowing his eyes in suspicion) Are you suggesting we're covering up a crime?
(<- Crystal's Fantasy & Associates ->)
Crystal: (catching Billy grabbing hold of her rag) I'm sorry.
Billy:  (he jerks his head up with a mystic expression) We can't keep doing this, you know?  We can't keep shutting each other out.
Crystal:  How can I let you in when we both feel so differently?  I'm mourning Javier for the man he was, not the person he was in the end, which you can't get past.
Billy:  Just because I can't get past what Javier has done doesn't mean that I can't understand what you're feeling, but you have to trust me enough to tell me.
Crystal:  You're right, I focused so much time on analyzing how you feel that I didn't bother sharing how I felt.  Maybe because then I would have someone else to blame rather than myself.
Billy:  What happened to Javier was no one's fault.
Crystal:  You can say that because it wasn't your words that drove him to the edge-- (pause) they were mine!
(<- Leysdale Hospital ->)
Robin:  So what are you saying?  Things are never going to be the same?
Jay:  I don't know what to say, Robin.  All I know is that the most joyous occasion of any couple's lives is centered around confusion because...
Robin:  (responding to Jay's sudden pause) What? Because I couldn't trust you enough to share my fears and would rather have an abortion than face being pregnant, is that it?  (Robin searches desperately for answers in his eyes)
***Jay:  That's one way to say it.  Does it make you feel any better?
Robin:  No!
Jay:  I didn't think so, that's why I tried to abstain from saying it.
Robin:  I want to know how you feel.
Jay:  You lied to me about being pregnant or ever wanting a child, you tried to have an abortion and if you had succeeded, you would have killed our child.  I don't think you wanna know how I'm feeling right now.
(<- Outside of Monte Carlos ->)
Sherri:  You're good and you almost had me there, but there isn't going to be any second chances.
Romain:  (he pulls her arms once more) This isn't about second chances, I just poured my heart out to you because I love you.
Sherri:  You think heartfelt pleas, a nice dinner and three little words are going to change things?  It doesn't, because when it is all over, I can't trust you and I cannot be with someone I don't trust.
Romain:  You're using one incident to dictate the course of our lives.  North Dakota was over a while ago and had nothing to do with us.  You're letting your past mistakes scare you away from me.  I am not Mitchell Desmores and I'm not sleeping with your sister.
Sherri:  Stop trying to analyze me because that has nothing to do with this.
Romain:  Are you sure?  You've allowed us to get to a place where can't return.
Sherri:  I've allowed-- I've allowed, you're the one that's keeping North Dakota a secret.
Romain:  Oh so help me if you mention North Dakota again.  This isn't about North Dakota; North Dakota isn't the problem. (anger taking over as a tear begins to form) You are the problem and I am done dealing with it.  You have a nice life. (Romain treks off in fury)
(<- Springfield Lakes Resort ->)
Matthew:  Billy and Crystal had nothing to do with Javier's death.
Agent Blaine:  Then what were they doing at the crime scene?
Dana:  (interceding) I don't see how that is of any relevance to this case.
Agent Blaine:  It helps me establish motive and opportunity, which they both had plently of.  Billy had just learned that Crystal's ex-husband tried to kill him and she was hardly receptive of the idea.  She defended him up and down until she realize that Javier was the source of all her pain.  It only made sense for her and Billy to team up and punish Javier for his interference.
Dana:  That is disgusting and completely ridiculous.  I don't know where you've been getting your facts, but Crystal had no idea that Javier shot Billy.  The only reason she was in Javier's apartment that night was to prevent an altercation between Javier and Billy.
Agent Blaine:  and did she?  Or did she goad Billy into pushing Javier over that balcony instead?
Dana:  That is not what happened.
Agent Blaine:  How can you be so sure?  You, yourself, said you were no where near the crime scene.
Dana:  I see what you're doing... you're twisting my words around for your own purposes and I won't allow it, you can get out.  (Dana darts off and then positions herself behind Matthew)
Matthew:  You heard the lady.
Agent Blaine:  Indeed I did.  I have what I need... for now. (brushing pass Matthew and Dana to the door, Dana turns to see him out as she closes the door quickly behind him)
Dana:  (turning away from the door to Matthew) Damn, I should have trusted my gut.  Now who knows what he is going to do with that information I gave him.
Agent Blaine:  (outside the resort as his cellphone rings) Blaine!  Yes, I just finished questioning them, but with the information I got, the likelihood of a murder conviction dwindles everyday.
***Time in the Bottle by Jim Croce plays as Matthew makes his way to the door smiling with Dana as he turns back to wish her good night and kisses her momentarily, he then looks back at her, smiles and exits as she closes the door gently behind him, savoring the kiss.  She then walks back towards her bedroom, running her fingers gently through her hair.
Crystal turns to Billy, whose near the exit telling her to come on as he prepares to turn off the lights.  She rushes along and they embrace lovingly for the first time since Javier's suicide and then shut the lights off.  Crystal looks in a moment before closing the door behind them.
Back at the hospital, Robin remains distress as Jay tells her that they should start heading home, that things should be more clearer in the morning.  He then walks off, leaving Robin doubtful that things would get better.
Romain enters his apartment and feels the draft of emptiness as he throws his keys down and contemplates his choices and actions tonight with Sherri, who sits on the steps of Monte Carlos feeling the pain of her wait as she begins to cry.
Next:
Sherri: Come on, I know you're dying to ask. (~)
A:  If you wanted to find out about me, you could have asked. (~)
Andrew:  I don't care what you do, make sure Ben Hemmings does not leave Coral Springs alive!
