Previously on "The Mysteries of Our Lives"
Shanna:
My parents are in prison.  Whatever connections they had went down with them months ago, so don't go trying to make this situation about my past.
Derek: Why not?  You have no hesitation using my wife's past against her.
Shanna: (flatly) Your wife has a past? I wouldn't know. (exchanging a coy grin, her voice is moderately enthused) In fact, there is not much anyone knows about your wife, but then that is the problem, isn't it? (~)
Dr. Mayfield: I must say this visit is quite unexpected. (he remarks, making way to his desk)
Samantha:
You would know all about that, wouldn't you?
Dr. Mayfield:
I beg your pardon?
Samantha:
This whole town seems to be mum when it comes to the Azalea Garden and I'm willing to bet that you and this corrupt little hospital are behind the cover-up. (~)
Matt:
Dana and I are fine. We both sort been helping each other out. There hasn’t been time for romance.
Earl:
I didn’t say anything.
Matt:
You suggested it and while I have considered the possibility, it just isn’t the right time. (~)
Dr. Mayfield: I can understand your urge to tackle all the world's problems one by one, but you will come to realize we are not God.
Samantha: I'm well aware of who we are, thank you very much and it will be a cold day in hell before I confuse you with God.  (~)
Mindy:
  I don't want to talk about Alfonso.  He's gone -- started his own life.
Billy:  That doesn't mean you two can't still keep some sort of connection.
Mindy:  That's the last thing I want.  The sooner I erase Alfonso from my life, the better. (~)
Shanna: You know what, Derek? I don't care what you believe. Just know that I will find my husband and if Shalia is involved -- (extended pause) Well, know that you won't get in my way.
Derek: Is that a threat?
Shanna: It's a warning.  You'd be wise to share it with your wife.

***Derek: (he treks slowly into the cold room, throwing his keys on the nearest coffee table. He then finds himself recalling his conversation with Shanna from just a few hours before. As the recollection becomes more intense, he feels a familiar hand caressing the knots of his shoulders)
Shalia: (as she begins to ease up on his shoulders, he turns to her adoring face, which even void of make-up could look no more beautiful) Hey, you look like you were several miles away.
Derek: I went to visit Shanna tonight. It didn’t go so well.
Shalia: I imagine she’s still torn up over Ben’s disappearance.
Derek: No, she’s pass the torn up stage. She’s ready to make someone pay!

(<- Shanna’s Art Studio ->)
Shanna: (she plasters the soothing colors of green and blues across the canvas, no specific image in mind, but the strokes and colors are just enough to clear her mind in that moment. The moment is short-lived as a knock sounds at her door and a few seconds later, Andrew Stokes helps himself in) Well, hello there stranger. I was starting to think you disappeared like my husband.
Andrew: I take it that the authorities still haven’t found him.
Shanna: No, their way too busy telling me to stay out of there way to pull off any kind of an investigation. I swear the whole force is incompetent. But really, I can’t talk about me anymore, what brings you by?
Andrew: (closing in the distance between them) Well, it’s been a while since we last spoke. I really just wanted to see how you were doing.
Shanna: I’ll be better once my husband is found.
Andrew: (thinking to himself) “Unfortunately for you, that won’t be for a very long time.”  Well, I’m sure he will turn up.
Shanna: I hope so because I’m not sure how much longer I can sit idly by and do nothing.

(<- Garden Ridges Park ->)
Dana: (walking along the path with Matthew only a few inches apart from her, the green of the trees dissolve in the cool night midst) Wow, it’s nice out tonight.
Matthew: (looking up at the sky) Yeah, it is. It almost makes everything else going on in the world seem insignificant. (he turns to look onward at her)
Dana: Almost. (she then goes silent)
Matthew: Thinking about your brother?
Dana: Yeah, but I’m also starting to worry about Samantha. I mean, Crystal’s vision said that she could be in some possible danger.

(<- Springfield, Massachusetts: Undisclosed Location ->)
Samantha: (standing on the side of the road, her face is red with annoyance as she watches the scene before her) I cannot believe this. I knew I should have taken my car.
Daniel: (shutting the hood of his car) Come on. There is no way anyone could have foreseen this happening.
Samantha: Really? I wonder. (turning her eyes back toward the road)
Daniel: What is that suppose to mean?
Samantha: It just seems awfully convenient. (she turns back to study his reaction) You were initially opposed to my search for this cure, and now here we are, after your apparent change of heart, stuck in the middle of nowhere.
Daniel: (responds with a smirk, his distinct accent shining through) you actually think I planned this?!

Daniel: Come on Samantha, give me a break. I did not get us stranded out here just to stop you from getting to the Azalea Garden.
Samantha: Well, nothing else has worked. Perhaps you thought you could do the noble thing without actually doing it.
Daniel: Really, and leave myself exposed to your wrath. I’m smarter than that Samantha. (she turns away from his gaze, looking back out toward the empty road with an air of skepticism)

(<- Garden Ridges Park ->)
Matthew: Crystal’s vision definitely gave us a lot to think about, but there’s not much we can do if we don’t know where Samantha is.
Dana: You’re right. Besides, my brother is already out there looking for her. If anyone can save her, he can.
Matthew: Sounds to me like you’re experiencing some renewed hope.
Dana: Maybe I am. I think with everything else going on, I just lost sight of the fact that my brother is a survivor. He may go off half-cocked sometimes, but he’s always looking out for the people he cares about.
Matthew: Be careful, your big brother ideology is starting to show.
Dana: (she grins, then teasingly hits him on the shoulder) Don’t you dare tell him I said any of that because I’m definitely going to give him a piece of my mind when he gets back.
Matthew: and I wouldn’t dream of getting in the way of that. (the two smile at one another)

Morgan: Thank you for allowing me to buy you another cup of coffee.
Mindy: Well, you didn’t give me much of choice. Plus, I was really looking forward to drinking the one that you ended up wearing.
Morgan: (with a smile) Very nicely said.
Mindy: So you said you were new in town. What brings you to Hallandale, Massachusetts, of all places? I mean, I can definitely think of worthier alternatives.
Morgan: Do you not like it here?
Mindy: Don’t get me wrong. There are nice people here, but I only moved to Hallandale to be closed to – (she stopped herself from bringing up his name, for she was determined to forget he ever existed) well, that reason’s long gone. Had I been able to do it all over again, I would have probably chosen a place a little more luxurious.
Morgan: Yet you’re still here. Something must be keeping you?
Mindy: Like I said, the people are nice and despite its quirks, the place does grow on you.

(<- Lincoln Manners Resort ->)
Shalia: She wants someone to pay? Well, I guess I’m the woman’s face on her dart board.
Derek: You’re definitely her one and only suspect.
Shalia: (she groans) When is this going to be over?
Derek: Sadly, not until Ben is found and who knows when that will be?
Shalia: In the meantime, I what? Continue to put up with Shanna’s abuse? I’m not sure I can do that.
Derek: Of course not, what sane innocent woman could? But you just hang in there because Ben will be home and he will be able to tell us what really happened. (the declaration leaves Shalia’s blood cold, but she smiles faintly in order to appear appeased by Derek)

***Andrew: (leading her over to the couch, he sits next to her) You need to remain strong for your husband.
Shanna: I’m trying, but it’s hard.
Andrew: (gives a comforting smile) Then I guess it’s a good thing that I’m here to make sure you don’t falter.
Shanna: You have done so much for me already. Building this studio, always being here to listen –
Andrew: I’m just being a friend.
Shanna: It’s more than that. You have been a godsend and I won’t soon forget that.

(<- Lincoln Manners Resort ->)
Shalia: How ironic. The one man who can clear me of any wrongdoing is the one man who hates me the most.
Derek: He would never let that get in the way of the truth.
Shalia: I’m not saying he would, but he isn’t exactly my number one fan. Neither is his wife, for that matter. She could easily manipulate Ben into saying I was involved.
Derek: I don’t believe that.
Shalia: You think I want to – believe that my husband’s best friend would blame me for a crime I didn’t commit. I don’t, but we have to be realistic here, Derek.

(<- Springfield, Massachusetts ->)
Samantha: (pacing back in forth in the same spot, the repetitive action serves her no use as she cannot get a call out on her cell phone) Damn signal. (She tosses the phone on the ground, which lands right in Daniel’s general direction)
Daniel: (she spies him pick it up and turns away, but that doesn’t stop him from approaching) You lost this? (he queries knowingly, handing over the cell, only to meet her fiery expression. She then jerks her cell from his palm before averting his gaze) I just want to make sure I was clear before. I have every intention on bringing you to the Azalea Garden –
Samantha: (her lack of interest evident) I really don’t want to hear this.
Daniel: This isn’t a walk in the park for me either. There are huge risks for both of us if we go after the azalea.
Samantha: (the cool breeze blows through her hair as nightfall begins to set in) The risk being extracting the cure from the plant, or would that be me finding out whatever it is you’re hiding there?
Daniel: I’m not hiding anything Ms. Lombard. I’m just a doctor who was hoping this Blackadder36 nonsense was over.
Samantha: Well, unfortunately for both of us, that doesn’t appear to be the case and I have this sick suspicion that you know why.
Daniel: Your suspicions are unfounded.
Samantha: I guess we’ll see because one way or another, I will get to the Azalea Garden.

< HALF SEGMENT CREDITS >

Derek: Look, I know that Ben has been opposed to our relationship, but he would never allow his feelings or his wife’s to crowd his judgment.
Shalia: I hope you’re right because I would hate to be the victim of some revenge scheme.
Derek: (takes a deep breath before switching gears in the conversation) You know what? Let’s not talk about Ben, or Shanna or anything else for the rest of the night?
Shalia: I hope I haven’t upset you.
Derek: (he grabs hold of her hands within his palms) No honey. I’m just sick of talking about it. (his eyes match the same tone of sadness in his voice, as he gently drops her hands and proceeds in the direction of the staircase. Shalia lifts her head up from her hands within a moment after he departs to see him ascending toward the stairs. She then turns her head back slightly, stuck with an arbitrary thought)

(<- Cypress Gardens Plaza ->)
Mindy: So, you never did fully explain what brought you to Hallandale? Do you have family here?
Morgan: No. I mean, I have a brother, but he’s back home.
Mindy: and where’s home?
Morgan: You ask a lot of questions.
Mindy: Only when the subject’s interesting.
Morgan: (smirks) Subject? You make me sound like a research project.
Mindy: Well, I’m knee deep in projects, what’s one more?

Dana: Was that the hospital?
Matthew: (slips his cell phone into the compartment on his waste) Yeah, Evelin actually. She and Earl are having a heck of time.
Dana: See? Who would have thought after everything that you would be saying that?
Matthew: Just makes me wonder all the more when the other shoe is going to drop.
Dana: The other shoe?
Matthew: My brother is still fighting off a dangerous pathogen and as much as I hate to even consider the possibility, the longer he goes on without the cure, the sooner his body is going to start to rebel.

(<- Springfield, Massachusetts ->)
Samantha stumbles inside the hotel as the automatic doors open, her feet trying to retain what little strength it has left as she reaches the lobby seating area. Personnel staff from the hotel notices her and a young man makes his way over as the automatic doors of the hotel open once more, signaling the arrival of Daniel Mayfield.
Man: Can I help you, ma’am?
Samantha: Yes. Could I trouble you for a glass of water and a room, please?
Daniel: Make that two rooms. (Samantha looks up at Daniel long enough to grimace a look of discontent in his direction before returning to the young man standing before her)
Man: The Continental area is around the corner. Help yourself, and I will check on those rooms. We’ve gotten a lot of traffic this evening.
Samantha: Thank you. (the man walks back over to the front desk. Samantha then tries to move from the seat, but scrunches her face lightly, unable to hide the pain of moving her feet)
Daniel: Would you like me to get you that drink?
Samantha: Don’t do me any favors.
Daniel: Why don’t you stuff the attitude? It’s obvious that you’re in far too much pain to walk over to the Continental area yourself.
Samantha: and I wonder why that is, Dr. Mayfield?
Daniel: (he remarks lightly) Hey, I wasn’t the one that suggested we walk here.
Samantha:  You weren't also the one...
Man: (he approaches the two of them just as Samantha’s anger begins to intensify) Excuse me. I’m afraid there’s a problem.
Samantha: What kind of a problem?
Man: We only have one available suite left. (Samantha briefly thinks about it as her gaze then shifts to Daniel, then back to the man before her)
Samantha: (sarcastically) Oh, that’s just great.

***Morgan: You’re leaving so soon?
Mindy: (pushing in her chair, she quickly places her purse over her shoulder) Well, like I said, I have many projects. I really need to get back to this one.
Morgan: Well, the next time you’re free – (takes out a business card from his pocket) give me a call. (she takes the card with a smile, then bypasses him toward the exit. He grins slightly before turning back and meeting eyes with his waitress from the evening)
Nia: Your check, sir.
Morgan: Thanks. (he takes the check and glances at it momentarily before pulling out his wallet and subsequently pulling out a few bills) That should take care of it.
Nia: (taking the cash, she quickly counts it up and realizes it is a bit larger than the bill) There are a few extra large bills in here.
Morgan: Consider it a tip. (Nia blinks twice, completely in awe) You have a good night.
Nia: Thanks, you too. (She watches curiously as he exits)
Morgan: (passing Leigh and Kelley on his way) Excuse me.
Leigha: (clearing the path as he passes, she then rejoins Kelley) That was some engagement party, wasn’t it?
Kelley: Yeah, but at least things ended on a good note for Kyle and Lacreasha.
Leigha: We hope. (her gaze then spies Dana and Matthew approaching in their direction) Oh no.
Kelley: What? (he looks up to see what has caught her attention)
Leigha: The last thing I need – Brock Lombard’s sister. (Dana notices that Leigha’s eyes are affixed on her as she and Matthew get within breathing distance)
Dana: Hi Leigha.
Leigha: Hello.
Dana: Is everything alright?
Leigha: Why do you care?
Dana: I’m just asking.
Leigha: Well, maybe you should mind your own damn business. (the comment leaves Dana with open mouth shock)
Matthew: Hey, there is no need to be nasty.
Leigha: I’ve put up with enough from Ralph’s overprotective family.
Dana: (shocking wearing off) I’ve done nothing to you. I was trying to be nice, but obviously that was a mistake. Let’s go, Matthew. (she darts off, Matthew following behind)
Kelley: (filling in for Leigha’s sudden loss of words) So that’s what it looks like when you’ve just put your foot in your mouth? (Leigha gives him an irked glance)

(<- Shanna’s Art Studio ->)
Andrew: (standing in the archway of her door) Are you going to be okay here alone?
Shanna: I’ll be fine.
Andrew: All right. Don’t stay here too late.
Shanna: I won’t. (he then parts, enabling her to shut the door. She then glances at her watch) It is getting late. (She makes her way back over to her canvas, uncovering the portrait she was painting earlier. She then picks up a brush and continues doodling)
Andrew: (stepping into his car, he pulls out his cell phone and starts dialing a number) “Hey, it’s Dre. Just making sure we’re all set.” (the caller confirms that he is) “Great, we can’t lose this opportunity because everything I’ve been working for depends on this.”
