About Earl

The eldest son of Harrison and Lena Pryce, Earl grew up in a happy, loving home. His parents were close friends with Royce Sr. and Mandy Keller, which afforded him the opportunity to bond with their son, Royce Jr.  The two were inseparable, and seemed destined to be lifelong friends. Their friendship, however, was put to the ultimate test when news of his mother's affair with Royce Sr. hit the fan, pitting their families against one another. Earl's father was unable to reconcile with his wife's betrayal, throwing himself deeper and deeper into his paranormal research until his untimely death in October 1979. Lena turned to Royce Sr. for support, much to his son's disapproval. In 1981, the Pryce and Keller families were rocked by the death of Mandy Keller. Royce Jr. lashed out at the Pryce family, blaming Lena for his mother's suicide. Earl defended his mother, making an enemy of his friend.

Throughout the 80's, Earl played a surrogate father to his younger brother, Matthew, before having his own son, Jason, in 1987. A recent high school grad, he struggled with raising a newborn and looking after his gifted brother. After his mother's death, Earl uprooted his wife, son and brother for fresh start in the Pacific Palisades. Dalia hated the Palisades, and overtime, felt like she and her son were becoming second fiddle to his rising corporate career. By December '92, she had enough and filed for divorce. As his business continued to grow, including a silent partnership with T.E.C's Restaurante, she went after full custody of their son. To avoid a heated custody battle, Earl compromised with his ex- and became a part-time father to his son. Meanwhile, it appeared his brother had adopted the same fascination their father had for strange and weird phenomena. Earl tried to steer him from that path, but their return in 2001 to Hallandale would torpedo those efforts. Matt met Royce's new sister-in-law, Dana Lombard, who supported his belief in a higher power. With her help, Matt eventually discovered that he and his father shared the same gift, and that his own brother deliberately kept that from him. Earl tried to defend himself, but made matters worse when he blurted out that their father's so-called gift was a death sentence. Naturally, Matt wanted to know what his brother meant, but Earl refused to open up about it. Fed up, Matt moved out of their apartment.

Witnessing the strain of the secret on the brothers' relationship, Evelin tried to convince Earl that maybe it was time for him to come clean, but he refused to see reason. After complaining of a headache, he retreated into his kitchen, only to pass out. He was rushed to Leysdale Hospital, where was later diagnosed with the blackadder36 virus. Earl remained unconscious for weeks following his diagnosis, finally regaining conscious at the end of season five.
